Thirty seconds at the handoff saves everyone a claim later: - Run it. If it has a motor or a battery, switch it on in front of the owner. - Photograph existing marks. Two quick photos of any scuffs or damage, timestamped by your phone. Both of you now have the same record. - Count the pieces against what the listing said was included. - Then give the handoff code. The rental starts when the owner enters it — not before. Bring it back the way you got it, and the deposit hold is released when the owner confirms the return.
